Families,

The PAC Executive wanted to touch base and see how everyone was doing. We all hope that you are safe and sound. We know that this pandemic has impacted our school community in so many ways. Our families are struggling with job loss, isolation, working from home, working as essential service workers in a variety of areas, and everyone is managing stress/fear/anxiety... and we are doing this while either having our children at home, or having madly scrambled to find care for them.

Know that you are all amazing... and that we will all get through this. We will all get through this together.

But we know it doesn't feel like that right now. It's isolating. We can't do the things we usually do. We are social beings and life has been turned upside down.

But there is a way to stay connected... and we know some folks are already doing this with success with family, friends, and community. The PAC recognizes that some divisions have already had online meet ups, and we are hoping people will continue to stay connected. Honestly, the PAC is limited in its capacity to lead organization of meet ups right now based on our individual life circumstances, so if there is an interest in the community, we would be grateful to those who are willing and able to organize any sized online meet ups.

In order to help facilitate group connectedness during this time, the PAC has created a contact sheet. If you are interested in sharing your contact information with the whole school community so that your family can stay connected with others, please fill out the following form: here.  Please feel free to continue to use your div's google group to connect with your whole division. We felt this might be a way to connect kids on a one to one basis if kids are missing each other.

Popular tools to support connecting with others digitally: Zoom, Google Hangouts, What'sapp, Marcopolo.com, Facebook, Facebook messenger, Facebook Messenger for kids. If you would like support in learning Zoom, Kym Thrift would be happy to help. You can contact him here

We would also like to encourage you to continue to share on our Facebook page. We do acknowledge that not everyone in our community is on this platform, but it is a way to continue to connect at this time. Please continue to post about activities/resources for the kids... and perhaps we could post some helpful/inspiring info to help us keep our spirits up and maintain our mental health.

The PAC has created a Google Sheet to organize all of the amazing resources that folks have been posting. Please consider posting your info in this sheet so that those families who are not on Facebook can access the same information. You can find the sheet here

Above all else, do what you need to take care of yourselves during this time. Connect with your family. Do what you can manage. Please take care and please reach out if you need.

If you are in a position where you might be able to help families in need during this time, please contact Jenn Sutton. This support could be as simple as being able to grab groceries for someone or to donate food. If you are in need of support, please feel free to contact Jenn Sutton (or Carmen if you prefer to remain anonymous as we can arrange to get things to her at the school).

Hugs to all.

Please be advised that all SPFS PAC events and meetings have been put on hold/cancelled. Should schools re-open for classroom education for the remainder of the school year, the PAC will re-evaluate what events will continue.

AUCTION - May 29, 2020
The PAC is sad to announce that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 annual auction gala this year. In light of the economic impact that the Covid-19 pandemic is having on our community, we believe it is inappropriate to solicit donations for our auction in the coming weeks. We are also aware of the financial hardships that many of our families are experiencing.

Please know that the PAC is evaluating the financial impact this will have and how we may need to adapt our budget and/or enhance fundraising in future years to mitigate any losses. We will report further at our next General Meeting (date TBD).
